Chiavari Room

Named for its splendid wrought-iron bed forged by a master artisan in the Italian Riviera town of Chiavari, this room is fresh and airy-feeling, due to floods of morning light and a decorative pastel palate of soft yellow, aqua, and coral. The bed itself is a striking Montecatini green, the traditional color for children's beds in and around Genoa, and handpainted wild flowers fill its medallions. The floral theme is continued in a majolica inset on one of the hand-made lamps and in a 1940s needlepointed wool rug. The chest of drawers is Louis XIV, while the bergere [grave accent on the 2nd e] chair and ottoman are reproductions that will be favored by readers. The en suite...." A pretty bergere chair and ottoman as well as a Louis XV chest add to this room's eclectic style. The en suite bathroom has a glassed-in shower and a window looking into distant trees.
